WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH A FRANKING MACHINE?

  5. Letter catch tray – your letters stack here after feeding through the franking machine.

In addition to what is listed above all franking machines in the UK (including Kent, Sussex and Surrey) are licenced by the Royal Mail. You will need a Royal Mail franking licence and Postage account to use a franking machine. Your postage funds can be paid into your postage account by DD, Credit/Debit card, Bacs or cheque. These funds can then be accessed through the franking machine.

Using the built-in scale you can weigh your letter or parcel and then choose the service you require such as Second Class or Recorded using the colour touchscreen. Once the service is selected run your envelope or label through the franking machine and it will print the new barcoded frank mark.

This new 2D barcode is called Mailmark and allows for Royal Mail’s sorting machines to read the information printed as it travels through the postal system. The Mailmark franking machine barcode replaces Royal Mail’s traditional franking machine indicia but still includes information such as where the item was posted (e.g. Caterbury) the outbound Postcode (CT1) and the day/time the item was franked.
